Ben Webster Benjamin Francis Webster soprannominato "the Brute" - "frog".

Kansas City, 27 marzo 1909 - Amsterdam, 20 settembre 1973. E' stato un sassofonista statunitense di musica jazz che, insieme a Coleman Hawkins e Lester Young, è riconosciuto come uno dei tre più importanti tenorsassofonisti di estrazione swing. Il suo "modello" tra i due è soprattutto Hawkins, in particolare per l'uso dei registri bassi, del vibrato e della tecnica cosiddetta del growl.
